What kind of bike and equipment do I need for the bike ride?
Any type of bike will do. NC law requires that a white light in front and a rear light. All riders MUST wear a bicycle helmet.
Is the bicycle ride a timed race?
No, the ride is a leisurely evening tour through downtown Durham. The bike ride is 9.8 miles and it is fairly hilly. Be aware that NC law requires all bicycles to have front and back lights after dark.
Is the 5K run timed?
Yes, the 5K run is on a USATF Certified course and is chip-timed by Precision Race. There will be overall and age group prizes for the fastest runners. The 5K is also part of the Triangle Race Series. Runners who complete at least 4 of the 20+ races in the Series will score an invitation to the year-end Series awards banquet and will qualify for Series swag and awards. Do I have to fundraise in order to participate
No, you are not required to fundraise, There are two goals for this event: have fun and raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. To help Habitat, we suggest that every rider and runner donate $25, but this is not required.
What is included with my registration fee?
Your registration includes entry in either the Bike Ride or 5K Race and the post-race block party featuring live music by Kings of the Highway, BBQ dinner and beer (age 21+). Party Only registrations include admission to the post-race block party including BBQ dinner and beer (age 21+).
